Temporary and mobile ice rinks

Four weeks on the ice. Get the numbers and sizes right.

For a temporary rink, the hire fleet starts with the plan, not a product list.

When does the rink open? How many visitors do you expect? How many pairs will you need, and how should they be split between children’s and adult sizes?

Those details help us build the right fleet.

Five planning steps

  • 1. When does the rink open?

The opening date determines how much time is available for delivery from stock, additional pairs or possible custom production.

  • 2. How many visitors do you expect?

Rink size and expected visitor numbers provide a first indication of fleet size. Busy periods and visitor groups help determine how many pairs must be ready at peak times.

  • 3. What size mix will you need?

Too few popular sizes disappoint visitors; too many rarely requested sizes tie up budget. We help divide the fleet between children’s and adult sizes.

  • 4. What else will you need?

Depending on the rink: skating aids, helmets, curling stones, gloves or products to sell at the counter.

  • 5. What happens next season?

If you store the fleet for another winter, replaceable liners, buckles and other parts matter when you bring it back into use.

“With Nijdam, we have found a partner who truly understands our ambitions and takes the burden off our shoulders by providing a well-thought-out, all-encompassing concept: from the supply of skates and gloves to additional products.”

Practical questions

Can we hire the skates from Nijdam?

You buy the fleet and keep it. It can be stored after the season and used again the following winter. Worn liners and buckles can be replaced separately.

Our rink builder usually supplies the skates too.

That is fine. We supply ice rinks directly as well as rink builders and suppliers.

We rely on volunteers and have little time.

Start with three details: your opening date, rink size and equipment you already have. We can take it from there.

The board must approve the investment first.

We can prepare a no-obligation written quotation with proposed quantities and sizes.

More from your rink

We can also discuss counter sales, quieter hours and local activities with schools, businesses and sponsors.

Tell us how your rink works, and we will share ideas that fit your situation.

Partner with Nijdam

A rink that operates for only a few weeks can still be seen across a whole town. We are open to partnerships with organisers who can give Nijdam visibility in return for terms agreed in advance.

Tell us when your rink opens and how large it will be. We can then work through your hire fleet.
